Join Tom in Tarragona, Spain this summer to learn documentary filmmaking from first shot to final edit. Tarragona is rich in story ideas waiting to be explored. You will work alongside students from Tarragona University who will accompany you in navigating their language and city.
Tarragona is a Mediterranean costal town. It was the Roman capital for the Iberian peninsula. As such Tarragona is a must-visit for those interested in Roman ruins. The town is charming, walkable and enjoys the reputation of having the best beaches along Spain’s “Golden Coast”. It is an hour’s drive south of Barcelona’s International airport.
- The Individual Project: Learn to use your camera and editing program as you work as a one-person crew producing a 90 second piece.
- The Advanced: Join one or two classmates to put your new skills of shooting and editing to the service of a story.
The 4-Week workshop is an offering of Tarragona University “Rovira i Virgili” film department. It is taught on campus with college credit. We will have access to the Universities equipment and computer lab. However the goal of the 4-Week is for you to have a working knowledge of your own equipment. You should bring your own laptop, camera and hard disk with at least 2 Terabytes of space.
1. Housing is included for the month
2. 2 meals a day are included
3. Possible two College Credits (through Wooster College)
4. Catalan language classes (optional at no cost)
5. Classes taught in English.
6. Finish a short film for your reel
